A VISION FOR DISTRICT 7

District 7 is the heart of Boston—a place of deep history, vibrant culture, and resilient communities. But too many residents are being left behind by rising costs, displacement, and decades of underinvestment. My vision is rooted in equity, justice, and opportunity—for every family, in every neighborhood.

As a lifelong advocate, attorney, and pastor, I’ve spent my career fighting for civil rights, affordable housing, economic fairness, and safer, stronger communities. On the City Council, I’ll bring bold leadership and deep experience to the issues that matter most—because District 7 deserves more than promises. It deserves progress.

Below are the priorities that will guide my work: grounded in the voices of the people and driven by a commitment to build a more just, inclusive, and thriving Boston for all.

Housing Justice & Affordability

Housing Justice & Affordability

Everyone deserves a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. I’ll fight for rent stabilization, deeper investment in affordable housing, and real pathways to homeownership—especially for longtime residents and working families at risk of displacement. I’ll also ensure city-owned land is used for public good, not private luxury, and support tenant protections that keep communities whole.

As a former HUD Regional Counsel, I fought housing discrimination, secured millions in public housing reinvestment, and helped design tenant-to-owner programs. I’ve seen what’s possible when housing policy puts people first—and I’ll bring that experience to City Hall.

Economic Equity & Wealth Building

Economic Equity & Wealth Building

Boston’s prosperity must be shared—not hoarded. I’ll work to close the racial wealth gap by expanding access to city contracts for minority- and women-owned businesses, supporting youth job programs, and investing in workforce development. I’ll also push for economic policies that lift up working families and create real pathways to generational wealth.

Throughout my career, I’ve fought to break down the barriers that have kept Black and Brown communities from building lasting economic security—from pushing for equitable public investment at HUD to mentoring young people into stable careers. I’ll bring that same focus and urgency to City Hall—because economic justice is essential to a fairer Boston.

Education & Youth Empowerment

Education & Youth Empowerment

Our students deserve strong schools, safe learning environments, and real opportunity. I’ll fight for long-overdue school building upgrades, a seat at the table for our parents, teachers, and students, and push for a community schools model that brings wraparound services—like mental health care, afterschool programs, and family support—directly into our neighborhoods.

I’ve spent my life mentoring and advocating for young people, from launching the Trotter Peace Program to leading youth job initiatives and violence prevention efforts. I know the power of investing in the next generation. On the Council, I’ll ensure that youth voices are heard—not just consulted—and that every policy we pass builds a stronger, more inclusive future for Boston’s students.

Public Safety & Community Health

Public Safety & Community Health

True public safety means more than policing—it means prevention, care, and community investment. I’ll expand access to mental health services, fund proven violence prevention programs, and support community-based safety strategies that uplift rather than punish. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their neighborhood—without fear, over-policing, or criminalizing poverty and trauma.

As a pastor and longtime community advocate, I’ve walked with families through loss, conflict, and recovery. I’ve led mentorship efforts, launched youth empowerment programs, and seen firsthand what happens when we invest in people instead of just reacting to crises. On the Council, I’ll fight for a public safety approach that’s rooted in dignity, healing, and justice—for every resident, in every part of Boston.

Civil Rights & Democracy

Civil Rights & Democracy

I’ve spent my life fighting for civil rights—and I won’t stop now. I’ll protect free speech, protest rights, and the right to dissent, and I’ll fiercely defend Boston’s sanctuary city status. I’ll stand up against any effort—local or national—to roll back protections for immigrants, LGBTQ+ residents, communities of color, or any marginalized group.

From the courtroom to the pulpit, I’ve challenged discrimination, fought for equity, and stood with those whose rights were under attack. I know that democracy only works when it includes all of us—and I’ll use every tool at my disposal to ensure Boston remains a city where people can speak out, organize, and participate fully without fear.

Transportation & Infrastructure

Transportation & Infrastructure

Getting around Boston shouldn’t be a daily struggle—it should be safe, reliable, and affordable for everyone. I’ll push for better, faster, fare-free public transit, safer streets for walking and biking, and accessible sidewalks and crossings for seniors, people with disabilities, and families.

Transportation is more than a commute—it’s a civil rights issue. Too many communities, especially in Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan, have been underserved by public infrastructure for far too long. I’ll fight for equitable investment in these neighborhoods and support projects that reduce traffic violence, cut emissions, and connect residents to jobs, schools, and services.

Transit justice is essential to our goals for climate action, economic opportunity, and racial equity—and I’ll make sure every neighborhood has a voice in shaping how we move forward.

Good Governance & Accountability

Good Governance & Accountability

Government works best when it listens—and leads with integrity. I’ll fight to reform Boston’s development process to center community voices from the start, not just at the finish line. I’ll push for greater transparency in city decision-making, hold developers and public agencies accountable to their commitments, and make sure residents have real power in shaping what gets built and why.

Throughout my career—in public service, advocacy, and the church—I’ve led by listening. I know that trust is earned through action, not promises. On the Council, I’ll work to make city government more inclusive, responsive, and transparent, because planning should be done with people—not for them.

Whether it’s housing, budgeting, or public safety, I’ll make sure the people of District 7 are never an afterthought.
